Interim Executive Council of Karenni State
Announcement No 3/2024
During the (1111) Operation, which began in November 2023, the artillery shelling, airstrikes, and burning by the illegal coup military caused extensive damage and destruction to civilian homes, public buildings, and religious structures. In addition, public property was lost and damaged because of looting incidents committed by criminal elements.
Because of these reckless actions, valuable Karenni traditional and ancient cultural items kept in the Loikaw Cultural Museum were at risk, and some have lost. Therefore, the traditional items, including musical instruments, traditional weapons, ornaments, and frog drums, as well as other cultural artifacts, had to be urgently relocated to a secure place to prevent them from being lost.
It is hereby announced that it is a shared and full responsibility of all the people of Karenni State to preserve and pass on the traditional and ancient Karenni cultural heritage, which is treasured by the Karenni Sawbwas who historically governed the Karenni territories and is deeply valued by the Karenni Ethnic on these heritages.
