Interm Executive Council Of Karenni State(IEC)
Before the colonial era and up until the late colonial period leading to Myanmar’s independence, the Karenni region existed as an autonomous and independent sovereign state. However, after Myanmar gained independence and a civil war started, the Karenni region was forcibly drawn into the civil war. In 1952, the name “Karenni State” was changed and referred to as “Kayah State.” Since then, the leaders and the people of Karenni State have been incessantly fighting for their national equality and self-determination.
