Letter of Condolence on the Passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Thailand

It is with profound sorrow that the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC) extends its deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the Government, and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on October 24th, 2025.

Her Majesty’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of the Thai people and her compassion toward the highland communities in Mae Hong Son Province and other remote areas has left a lasting legacy of development and hope. The many Royal Projects, initiated under her royal patronage and guidance, have uplifted countless families across Thailand through improved livelihoods, education, and environmental stewardship.

For the people of Karenni State, who share historical, cultural, and familial bonds with the communities along the Thai border, Her Majesty’s benevolent initiatives symbolized the deep people-to-people connection that continues to unite our societies in mutual respect and understanding.

In this moment of mourning, IEC joins the people of Thailand in honoring Her Majesty’s extraordinary life and contributions. We offer our heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to the Thai nation during this time of great loss.
