Security Advisory to the People of Karenni State

The combat that began on November 11, 2023, at 5:00 AM in Karenni State has intensified. The military council is conducting targeted attacks by bombings with heavy weapons, small arms, and fighter jets into residential areas, villages, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. 

Hereby, we urgently appeal to the people of Karenni State to strictly adhere to the following points for your safety.

To Protect Yourself from Heavy Weapons, Small Arms, and Airstrike Dangers:

1. Shelter in Place: Stay on the ground floor of your home or in a bomb shelter, or in a location protected by brick walls. Remain there with security awareness.
2. Avoid Unnecessary Movement: Do NOT leave your home or travel outside until reliable official announcements declare that it is safe to do so.
3. Monitor Official Channels: Continuously listen for emergency announcements, warnings, and accurate news from relevant organizations. Follow instructions carefully.
4. Prepare Emergency Contacts: Keep a noted list of phone numbers to call for help in case of accidental injury.
5. Report Casualties Immediately: If you find or know of injured people in your nearby villages or wards, we strongly urge you to immediately inform the Department of Humanitarianism and Rehabilitation of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) or humanitarian emergency rescue groups.
