Interim Executive Council of Karenni State joins Catholics and people of goodwill around the world in mourning the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the 266th Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, who departed this life on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis inspired countless people with his unwavering commitment to compassion, justice, and peace. He will be remembered not only for his efforts to promote unity among Christians, but also for his courageous moral leadership on the global stage.

We are especially grateful for His Holiness’s steadfast support for the people of Myanmar, particularly his solidarity with those suffering under the ongoing consequences of the unlawful military coup. His voice brought comfort, hope, and strength to many in their darkest hour.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Catholic community and to all who mourn this great loss. Pope Francis’s legacy of mercy, humility, and reconciliation will continue to inspire generations to come.
