Landmine Warning and Safety Guidelines for Civilians:
Incidents of innocent civilians being injured and killed by landmines in Karenni State have increased significantly as one of the consequences of the illegal military coup.
In cooperation with various revolutionary forces within Karenni State, the Karenni State Interim Executive Council is making efforts to carry out landmine clearance in residential areas of villages/villages tracks. In addition, to reduce harm to civilians, mine risk education and airstrike risk awareness and protection activities were conducted.
However, the danger of landmines and other unexploded remnants of war remains at risk in most villages and village tracks all over Karenni State. Therefore, the public is hereby are informed and urged to follow the safety guidelines and warnings outlined below strictly,
- Do not return or resettle in your ward/ villages without official authorization from the relevant township/village tract administrative bodies and an official permit from the revolutionary forces.
- In wards or villages where resettlement has been permitted, residents shall move around within the allowed areas and strictly avoid entering the restricted zones.
3. If landmines or explosive objects are found in your surroundings, do not touch, dig up, strike, move, or collect them.
- If landmines or explosive military objects are discovered in your surroundings, immediately inform the relevant ward/village administrative bodies and the officer from the nearest coalition of revolutionary forces.
5. Respect and strictly follow the landmine-related safety rules and regulations issued by the relevant township, village, ward/village administrative bodies, and the responsible authorities from the coalition revolutionary forces, as required.
Hereby, we urge everyone to carefully observe and respect the above safety guidelines and, through cooperation and collective effort, work together to reduce and prevent the dangers of landmine explosions.
