Press Release Regarding the Arrangements for the Return Home of 70 Non-CDM Staff Members of Loikaw University and  37 Family Members

1. During operation 1.1.1.1, a total of 204 Non-CDM staff and their family members were trapped inside Loikaw University and the Technical Institute. The Karenni revolutionary forces safely evacuated them, and the Interim Executive Council of Karenni State(IEC) has taken full responsibility for their food, shelter, and healthcare.
2. The “Special Investigation Committee on Non-CDM Personnel” conducted necessary interrogations of these 204 individuals. Those found to have no connections to the military council were made to sign a pledge, apologizing for their non-participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and vowing not to participate in any mechanism of the coup military regime. On November 23, 2023, the 70 staff and 37 family members who signed the pledge were arranged to return to their homes, arranged by the Interim Executive Council of Karenni State in coordination with relevant partner organizations.
3. For the remaining staff and their family members, the necessary investigations and interrogations will continue, and the arrangements for their return will be made upon completion of these processes.
