Many areas across Karenni State experienced consecutive landslides and flooding, resulting in loss of life, injuries, and damage to homes and properties due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, which formed in the South China Sea.
Although Typhoon Yagi has dissipated, another storm known as (GENER) has emerged again. According to forecasts by meteorological experts, while the (GENER) storm is not as strong as the previous (YAGI) typhoon, it has the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone, and therefore may still pose risks and hazards.
In recent days, although water levels have receded in some areas due to the weakening of Typhoon (YAGI), unforeseen hazards, including the accumulation of sediment and mud, may continue to occur. Therefore, the public is hereby urgently advised to pay close attention to and strictly follow the warnings and precautionary measures outlined below,
- Although floodwaters have receded, unpredictable danger may still be present in some areas. Therefore, until a safe condition is fully restored, people are advised not to return to or carry out activities in previously flooded areas
- Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and follow the specific instructions continuously
- In the event of facing any emergency incident, people are urged to immediately contact and coordinate with the Karenni State Interim Executive Council’s Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Humanitarian Assistance and Rehabilitation, as well as the relevant Township Interim Executive Councils and Joint Administration Committees through their contact addresses and phone numbers to receive the support.
