On 1 February 2021, the illegal military seized state power through unlawful way. Since that time, the people of Sagaing Region have continued to resist and fight against military dictatorship and all forms of authoritarian rule, sacrificing their lives and blood up to the present day.

The Karenni State Interim Executive Council recognizes the Sagaing Forum,  as it has been formed by bringing together various revolutionary forces within Sagaing Region, with the objectives of ending authoritarian rule, achieving the right to self-determination and self-governance, and building a federal system.

Through the formation of the Sagaing Forum, we sincerely hope that the various forces within the Sagaing Region will become more united, strengthen their representative structure, and take a leading role in advancing the revolutionary movement. We also hope that the current political developments in the Sagaing Region will contribute to the future building of a Federal Democratic Union, in which Sagaing can participate as a federal unit with full political equality. With these wishes, we respectfully express this congratulatory message on this occasion.
