On the occasion of the 150th Karenni National Day, on 21 June 2025, the Interim Executive Council of Karenni State(IEC) extend our heartfelt prayers and best wishes for the speedy liberation from oppression of the Karenni people, who have resisted and fought against the military dictatorship and all forms of authoritarianism through various ways, as well as all we will for the Karenni people around the world and the entire people of Myanmar.
Furthermore, we wish to express our deep respect and recognition for all the people, brave women and men fighters, who have sacrificed their lives and bodies over the past three years, in the struggle for national equality, justice, and the right to self-determination, as well as for all Karenni civilians and internally displaced persons who have continued to stand for us, to the present time.
On 21 June 1875, a historic agreement was signed between Kinwun Mingyi, the representative of the Burmese King, and Sir Thomas Douglas Forsyth, the head of the British Government Mission, recognizing the Western Karenni territories as a separate and independent political identity, which turned into 150 years on 21 June 2025. Although Karenni State has historically stood as a separate and independent entity, in the present and for the future, we are working together with other ethnic brothers and sisters to build a federal union based on equal political power and equality for all.
Despite facing severe political, diplomatic, and military repression, as well as daily aerial attacks by the violent military, the entire Karenni people continue to steadfastly move forward in line with the interim arrangements for the key political goals and ambitions of the Karenni State. With the collective revolutionary strength and resistance of the entire Karenni people, we have established administrative mechanisms and have now reached a satisfactory stage.
To successfully reach the political objectives, the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC), together with the political leadership of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), reaffirms our commitment to continue working in close cooperation with the people of Karenni State, political forces, revolutionary alliances, and all groups participating in various roles in the people’s revolution.
In conclusion, we extend our warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Karenni National Day.
